Various types of Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) especially those that are secondary to sepsis, poisoning, drug over dosage, snake envenomation, post surgical AKI are dealt with utmost perfection and care. All unstable patients with AKI are supported in Medical lCU with bedside dialysis facility .
The department is supported by a renal dialysis unit with seven state of the art haemodialysis stations for stable chronic dialysis patients. Around 75 permanent dialysis patients receive haemodialysis in 3-4 sessions every day. On an average, 700 haemodialysis are performed per month in the unit. Latest generation computerised bicarbonate haemodialysis machine provide extremely high quality and safe dialysis for chronic patients.
In medical, cardiac and post operative ICCUs, highly sophisticated modalities of Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) like SLED(Sustained Low Efficiency Dialysis), CVVHD (Continuous Venovenous Haemo-dialysis with Filtration) are done for those needy patients. For kidney diseases like HUS /TTP, Good Pasteur's syn-drome, SLE etc and for non renal conditions like Myasthenia Gravis, Guillain Barre Syndrome, Thera-peutic Plasma Exchange & Plasmapheresis are available under critical care supervision. Also Charcoal haemoperfusion, a life saving procedure for the treatment of drug over dosage & poisoning is performed in the unit.
The centre also ensures seemless interface of patient care with other units like Vascular Surgery for creation of AV Fistula and Interventional Cardiology for Renal Angiogram & PTRA etc.
